It’s Almost 2024!!!
Hello Everyone! Yes, it’s been a longgg…… time since I updated you. There were a couple of strikes this year (WGA – Writers Guild of America; and SAG-AFTRA- Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) that impacted work. My auditions were down by 25% this year due to the strikes. However, I fully support the striking writers and actors, so it was worth the short-term loss for the long-term gain.
Since I last updated you, I filmed a Georgia Lottery commercial. It was SO fun and I had a great time on set. According to the script, in the commercial I was the visual comedic element at the end of the commercial. And I made the cast, crew and executives laugh. However, when the time came for final editing, I was cut out of the spot. It’s a bummer, but it happens. I had a great time and worked with wonderful people. Actors WAY more high-profile than me have been left on the proverbial cutting room floor. It’s kind of a rite of passage in an acting career.
Though there have been limited work options for much of the year, I did book work as a stand-in for a popular cooking show that is on PBS. I can’t reveal more now, but when it airs, I can tell you more. Because I was a stand-in, you won’t see me in the show, but I can share behind-the-scenes photos and stories at a later time.
And, I shot work as a featured extra in an industrial for a large hotel chain. Industrials are projects shown to a limited, closed audience such as employees for a company (like a training film) or those attending a specific conference. The hotel where we filmed was VERY luxe and I loved being there for two days.
And, in the spirit of the holiday season, I have a short (20 minutes) film to share that takes place during the holiday season. It’s called I THINK HE’S RIGHT. It is actually a student film that I shot in 2020 but was put on hold by the filmmaker because of the pandemic. I worked with a great cast and crew, and I can’t wait to work with them again. I hadn’t seen the film since we shot it, so it has been fun to watch it and remember all the fun we had on the project. Click on the link above to watch it.
Winter begins very soon, and like all seasons in our lives, it will bring us gifts and lessons but will eventually pass. Make the very best out of the season of life you are in right now. I’m looking forward to a busy and fulfilling 2024!
As always, thank you for your interest and support.
