The 43rd of Octember…Or Something Like That
Dear Friends,
Can you believe we are already into the holiday season?!?! This year has truly been a blur. Since I last posted, my sweet mother broke her leg and helping and caring for her has been my primary focus. However, there is good news to post about my career.
While sitting with my mother in the hospital one day, I was invited to participate in a Zoom screenplay reading that evening sponsored by the Nashville Film Festival. In spite of my fatigue and laser focus on my mom’s care, I accepted the invitation and I’m so glad I did. I was part of a group that read four short screenplays and they were all wonderful. And I was flattered to be asked.
A horror film I have a small role in, OUIJA CRAFT, was released on Amazon. Here is a photo we took on set.
You can watch it here: https://www.amazon.com/Ouija-Craft-Ivy-Rhodes/dp/B08JVGW166/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3NSS3BJW6SVPB&dchild=1&keywords=ouija+craft&qid=1606079258&sprefix=ouija+craft%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-1
A powerful short film I am in, BLACK THOUGHTS, is now available via On Demand on Comcast/Xfinity Cable. I’m proud of the message in this film and it has sparked discussions on racism in classrooms and churches around the country. And it won an award at the Portland Film Festival. The filmmaker, Dwayne Logan, was interviewed about the film by a journalist from USA Today. He wrote these kind words about my performance, “Thank you for helping to convey the subtleties of how these dangerous encounters often begin. I still have goosebumps from the range of your performances!” If you don’t have Comcast/Xfinity Cable, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UHP6Z9XTf0&t=122s
A film I shot a few years ago has finally been released. FRANK is an eerie, odd story full of love and zombies. Yes, you read that correctly. It is now entering the film festival circuit. FRANK was primarily an all-woman cast and crew and I love seeing more women in all areas of filmmaking. I play a zombie and here is a still taken of me during production:

And in addition to caring for my mother, I managed to recently have new headshots made. I have made the final choices and am awaiting getting the retouched final versions back from the photographer. I’ll share them next time.
I was recently in an encounter with a medical student as a standardized patient. That student tested positive for COVID-19 the next day, but I have not. I’m sure it is because we were both wearing masks and stayed six feet apart. So, I’m asking you to PLEASE do the same.
Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving! Until next time, thank you so much for your support. It means the world to me.
