Is It Hot Enough For You?
Hello friends, I don’t know where you are, but in the Southeast U.S. it is hot, humid and emotions are high. The SAG-AFTRA (that’s the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists union) strike against the AMPTP (the Alliance of Motion Picture an Television Producers) began mid-July and it has impacted all facets of the film and television industry. Though I am not a SAG-AFTRA member, I am eligible to join the union. And I support what they are fighting for 100%!! With the advance of streaming and other types of content delivery, it is well past time for the AMPTP producers to negotiate fair wages for actors. I support the Writer’s Guild of America’s (WGA) strike and strikes by other unions that have been happening this summer. No matter the field, no one should be taken advantage of in the workplace. Above is a photo of me at the Nashville SAG-AFTRA rally for fair wages.
A consequence of the strike is that productions have stopped everywhere. And that is why you are seeing more “reality” shows on tv. However, productions that are not produced by an AMPTP producer may go forward. To this end I have had some auditions and booked a commercial for the Georgia Lottery. I’ll share more about that project when it drops.
Since I last wrote my “Latest News” the Chayce Beckham music video “23” was released. It is a project I am very proud to be a part of. The story in the song is autobiographical about alcohol abuse. I’m happy to say that Chayce Beckham is now clean and sober and his career seems to be going very well.
